레븐교회는 2013년 7월, 미서부 퍼시픽 노스웨스트의 한인 이민자를 품고 시작되었습니다. 남침례 교단의 회원 교회로, 남침례교의 일반적인 신앙 선언문에 동의하는 공동체입니다.

교회를 개척하여 섬기는 박기범 목사는 리젠트 칼리지 (밴쿠버 BC 소재)와 골든 게이트 침례신학교 (현 게이트웨이 신학교)에서 신학과 목회학을 공부하였습니다. 2007년부터 사역자로 섬겨오고 있으며, 아내 박담비 사모와 두 자녀 주원, 주아와 함께 가정을 이루고 있습니다.

교회의 사명 선언문은 마태복음 13:33에 근거하여 다음과 같이 세웠습니다:

“레븐교회는 시애틀-벨뷰의 도시 지역에서 하나님 왕국의 확장을 위해 존재합니다. 이를 위한 제자 삼는 제자를 양성하기 위해 복음 중심의 예배, 복음 중심의 공동체, 복음 중심의 사역을 추구합니다”

요약하자면, 레븐교회는 도시 선교를 위해 존재하며, “도시의 중심에서 하나님의 왕국 (도성)을 품는 공동체”의 사역을 위해 존재합니다.

Leaven Church was planted back in 2013 with the Korean-American congregation in mind. The church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). We approve the general statement of faith guidelines by the convention.

 

Matthew Kibum Park, the lead pastor, and the church planter had studied at Regent College (Vancouver, BC) for MCS (Master of Christian Studies) and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (now Gateway Seminary) for MDiv. He has been serving as a minister role since 2007. He and his wife, Lois, have two children, Jonathan and Zoe.

The church’s mission statement is based on the Gospel According to Matthew 13:33 and our mission statement as the following:

 

“The Leaven Church exists to expand the Kingdom of God in the urban city of wider Seattle-Bellevue area by
producing disciple-making disciples through gospel-centered worship, gospel-centered community, and gospel-centered ministries.”

 

In short, we exist for the urban mission and ministry that purposes to be “in the heart of the
city, the city of God at heart.”
